Central Saline still has a small-town feel, and the old village core around Michigan Ave. and Ann Arbor St. includes late 1800s and early 1900s homes. Ranches and 2-stories from the 1950s to 1970s line both sides of Michigan Ave., while subs farther out date from the 1980s. Country homes in nearby townships range from historic farmhouses to contemporary designs. In summer 2024, mid- and high-end homes were becoming available on the 68-acre land preservation community of Fosdick Glen. In September, the Saline Planning Commission voted to recommend a preliminary planned unit development: Ridgewater Townhomes, which would bring 51 rental townhomes on 6.58 acres at 865 N. Ann Arbor St.
