Public parking meters cost $2.40/hour and are enforced Mon.–Sat., 8 a.m.–6 p.m. (except city holidays).

City-owned and Downtown Development Authority (DDA)-managed parking facilities are marked by white signs with a green letter P (lots) or blue signs with a white P (structures). A private company, PCI Municipal Services (734–761–7235), operates the system. About 50 downtown businesses validate customers’ parking. The hourly parking lot rate is $2.50/hour. The hourly parking structure rate is $1.65/hour. Operating hours vary. The Library Lane structure has a capped charge of $5 between 3 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weeknights and all day Sat. The 415 W. Washington lot has a flat rate fee of $5 all day Mon.–Sat. All city parking is free on Sunday.

Parking permits allow 24-hour access to specific lots and structures. The cost of a monthly permit at the Fourth & William, Ann & Ashley, 1st and Washington, Library Lane, Forest, Maynard, and Liberty Square structures is $245/month. Reserved spaces are available at some locations for either $340/month. Limited/Overnight permits are available at some locations for $40/month and allow access from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Permits are issued first come, first served; call the Downtown Development Authority at (734) 997–1310 to inquire about availability.
