“The fake ad is on page 64, ‘Poverty-Stricken Artists Sale!’” writes Bryan Magnuson. “The previous winner’s name is incorporated in Ofili Poverty-Stricken. However, I failed to find anything in the ad connected to elephant dung.” (Google Chris Ofili if you haven’t already.)
Arleen Elkins was bursting with pride at finding the ad. “I can’t believe I found one!!!!!” she wrote. “This clever, fun Fake Ad is on page 64 with Evgueni Filipov’s last name in the title of the ad for the ‘Poverty-Stricken Artists Sale’ to be held on the mystical date of September 31st!!! A sample of one of the drawings, which is (In the style of Chris Ofili), is shown at the top of the ad. I probably won’t win the contest, but the ad won the whole DAY for me because it made me feel soooo good to actually FIND one of your Fake Ads!!!!!! If your ads are all this much fun, I will work harder to read all of them from now on!!!!!!! Loved your ad!!!!!”
Our winner, Rick Mintz, is taking his gift certificate to Zingerman’s. This is his second win (albeit in twenty-five years), and he’s also the only Fake Adder with whom the Fake Ad Czar has (knowingly) eaten chicken wings. Coincidence? You decide.
