Works to end discrimination in housing and public accommodations and to promote accessible, integrated communities. Investigates complaints of discrimination in the rental, sale, or financing of housing. Federal and state laws prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including sexual harassment and maternity leave), familial status, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and source of income. Local ordinances may provide additional protections based on arrest or conviction records, immigration status, and student status.
