One misses the first kiss of blue skies,
where orange needlessly fights to reach the evergreens,
to drench golden, gilded fields
that makes one silent on the bench
shaded in between

Alyna Shae Er Lim is an Ann Arbor-based Malaysian writer. After her recent PoetTreeTown piece showcasing her love for community at coffee shops, “The Pines at Nichols Arboretum” makes space for a moment when spring invites us to take in the light, the familiar warmth that thaws wintry eyes (and hearts) to view our surroundings in technicolor.
