by Adrian Kocinski
The last sighs of winter
Wake the honeysuckle flower
A subliminal alarm coursing
Messages of awakening
Whispers from root to root
The gentle Earth stirring
The entropic release of
Heat
From breaking earth, winds, and
Heavens
Between echoing rapids and
The last kiss of sunlight
A familiar opening
Her eyes recognizing liminality
Constellations of fireflies
Falling from the ground,
Greeting her
With a veil of night and the
Fruit of the Moon
Wading through meadows
Her barren feet imparting
The chthonic rhythm of
Death and Rebirth
Her song
A white lotus, blooming
From lily pad to lily pad
The pollen dancing in the breeze
Carrying her melody
Between oscillating wings and
Swaying switchgrass
Her love
A shifting reflection

Consider the lily pads. Photo credit: C. Finch
