Portrait of a blonde womanPamela Janice White passed away at home on July 23, 2025 at age 70. Pam was born in Detroit in 1954 to Edward Kwiet and Myrna (Bunia) Kwiet. She graduated from Oxford (Michigan) High School in 1972, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley in 1978. She is survived by Chris (73), her husband of 40 years, and her daughter, Betsy White (39) who resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Pam’s career as a graphic artist was cut short due to illness, but she still utilized her artistic skill in other ways, like making her daughter’s high school graduation invitations. She was an avid seamstress and made the majority of her daughter’s Halloween costumes. The Pinocchio costume was a particular favorite. Her favorite color was purple. If you needed to buy a gift for Pam, as long as it was purple you were set. She even considered getting a purple streak in her hair. Pam hated olives and The Olive Garden. Neither Chris nor Betsy have any idea why she disliked that restaurant so much. She was an accomplished gardener, qualified as a Rosarian, and was president of the Huron Valley Rose Society in the 1990s. Flower arranging provided an outlet for her artistic talent, and her arrangements won a number of awards in rose competitions. Her flower arrangements could be stunning. She enjoyed reading fantasy and science fiction, and listening to rock and blues. Some of her favorite artists were Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, and Black Sabbath.

Later in life, Pam found community in Second Life, an online multiplayer RPG game. She made friends, and enjoyed getting to create her own world unburdened by her physical limitations. In Second Life she was a fairy and, of course, her outfit was purple.

Pam will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She was an amazing wife and mother.

A memorial was held at Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
