Cousins Ethan Pham and Terry Phung planned to close VKitchen in the Colonnade on W. Eisenhower on November 25. When it opened in 2015, it was the only full-service restaurant in town specializing in Vietnamese cuisine for lunch and dinner. (Another family-run option, Dalat, arrived in Woodland Plaza a mile north in 2018.) The cousins have since launched the boba shop UniTea near campus on E. William, and it will continue.
Taking VKitchen’s place in the Colonnade will be the Thai restaurant Siam Square, which suddenly lost its longtime home in the Victory Inn and Suites on Washtenaw in September when the hotel was condemned. As we reported in October, they’d seen the property decline in recent years and had been looking to move.
