“Wynton Marsalis: Cool School & Hard Bop”: University Musical Society
Celebrated trumpet virtuoso Marsalis and the 15-piece Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra explore the shared themes of cool jazz, known for its mellow lyricism and striking arrangements, and hard bop, with its bluesy melodicism and virtuosity. They reinterpret iconic recordings by Miles Davis, the Modern Jazz Quartet, the Max Roach-Clifford Brown Quintet, Horace Silver, and Art Blakey, as well as playing commissioned works by Benny Green and Luther S.
