“We Strangers”: Cinetopia International Film Festival
Cinetopia International Film Festival. June 13—23. This Ann Arbor Summer Festival/Cinetopia collaboration features dozens of films—many of them Michigan premieres—screened over 10 days at the Michigan Theater (MI) and State Theatre (State). Includes narrative feature-length films and documentaries that recently premiered at international festivals such as Sundance and Berlin. Tickets $16 (Michigan Theater members, $13); 4-pack, $60 (Michigan Theater members, $45); festival passes, $125-$295 in advance at marquee-arts.org/cinetopia and at the door. The films are listed in order of first screening below.
June 21 (MI) & 22 (State): “We Strangers” (Anu Valia, 2024). Drama, a study of class divisions and hustle culture, set in Gary (IN) about a charming cleaner of office buildings who is hired by a therapist to clean his house. 6:45 p.m. (Fri.) & 1:45 pm. (Sat.).
