“Traveler”: U-M Concert Band
Courtney Snyder and grad student conductors lead this music student ensemble in a program highlighted by contemporary American composer Jenni Brandon’s Double Concerto for Oboe and Bassoon, a symphonic exploration of the galaxy. Soloists are U-M oboe professor Nancy King and bassoon professor Jeffrey Lyman. Also, other works celebrating journeys, including Darius Milhaud’s Suite Française, Andrew McWade’s band arrangement of Debussy’s Indonesian gamelan–inspired Pagodes, along with pieces by contemporary American composers Ron Nelson and David Maslanka.
