“The Vourdalak”: Cinetopia International Film Festival
Cinetopia International Film Festival. June 13—23. This Ann Arbor Summer Festival/Cinetopia collaboration features dozens of films—many of them Michigan premieres—screened over 10 days at the Michigan Theater (MI) and State Theatre (State). Includes narrative feature-length films and documentaries that recently premiered at international festivals such as Sundance and Berlin. Tickets $16 (Michigan Theater members, $13); 4-pack, $60 (Michigan Theater members, $45); festival passes, $125-$295 in advance at marquee-arts.org/cinetopia and at the door. June 14 (MI) & 21 (State): “The Vourdalak” (Adrien Beau, 2023). Horror film based on an 1841 A.K. Tolstoy vampire novella, The Family of the Vourdalak. Lost in a hostile forest, the Marquis d’Urfé, an emissary of the King of France, finds refuge in the home of a strange family. French, subtitles. 10:30 p.m. (Fri., June 14) & 9:45 p.m. (Fri., June 21).
