The Third Place Music Fest
See 4 Wednesday. Today: 1 p.m. at Canterbury House (721 E. Huron St.): Armenian and other Middle Eastern music on traditional instruments by Detroit ensemble the Ara Topouzian Trio and Chicago-based contemporary jazz trumpeter Ella Grace with her quartet. 3 p.m. at Bløm Meadworks (100 S. Fourth Ave.): experimental ambient musician Sean Monaghan and Detroit experimental jazz trio Junk Jazz, which has influences as varied as funk, punk, and Brazilian. 6 p.m. at Liberty Plaza (E. Liberty at South Division): Participatory social sing-along & a parade down Liberty St. with the Regenerate! Orchestra, a volunteer ensemble that describes its music as immersive “ambient-classical-folk-noise.” 7 p.m. at Argus Farm Stop (325 W. Liberty): local folk-rock singer-songwriter Mike Vial and FLYDLPHN, a U-M student sextet that blends traditional chamber music and improvisation with electronic textures. 9 p.m. at Canterbury House (721 E. Huron St.): U-M grad and minimalist electro jazz musician Leith (Campbell) and Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet, a jazz ensemble led by local composer-bassist Sharp that explores music from around the world.
