The American-Romanian Festival Players: Kerrytown Concert House
Detroit Symphony Orchestra violinists Heidi Han and Marian Tănău, cellist Jeremy Crosmer, and violist William Haapaniemi present an evening of works on death, including “Remembering Ţăranu,” a recently commissioned piece by Swedish synth-pop duo Ionica Pop that honors Romanian composer Cornel Ţăranu, who died in 2023. Also, the late Pulitzer-winning avant-garde composer (and U-M grad) George Crumb’s Black Angels, a 1971 piece responding to the Vietnam War that was commissioned by the U-M, and Death and the Maiden, Schubert’s 1824 string quartet that represented a coming to terms with his own illness and impending death. 7:30 p.m., KCH, 415 N.
