She is widely known for her classic novel, The House on Mango Street, which won the PEN/Nabokov Award for International Literature. She has a MacArthur Fellowship, and her latest poetry collection, Woman Without Shame (2022), is the culmination of her search for home—in the Mexico of her ancestors and in her own heart.
