“Rosamunde String Quartet”: University Musical Society
This quartet of performers from some of the world’s best orchestras has carved out time to play and perform chamber music together since 2015. Tonight, they present Beethoven’s elegant and playful String Quartet No. 3, Bartók’s contrapuntally complex String Quartet No. 3, and Schubert’s foreboding String Quartet No. 14, known as “Death and the Maiden.” The group includes Berlin Philharmonic first concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley, Chicago Symphony Orchestra principal violist Teng Li, New York Philharmonic cellist Nathan Vickery, and concert violinist Shanshan Yao, a former member of both the Pittsburgh Symphony and the New York Philharmonic. 7:30 p.m., Rackham Auditorium. Tickets $40–$67 (students, $15-$20) in advance at ums.org & by phone, and (if available) at the door. (734) 764–2538.
