“Monster”: Cinetopia International Film Festival
Cinetopia International Film Festival. June 13—23. This Ann Arbor Summer Festival/Cinetopia collaboration features dozens of films—many of them Michigan premieres—screened over 10 days at the Michigan Theater (MI) and State Theatre (State). Includes narrative feature-length films and documentaries that recently premiered at international festivals such as Sundance and Berlin. Tickets $16 (Michigan Theater members, $13); 4-pack, $60 (Michigan Theater members, $45); festival passes, $125-$295 in advance at marquee-arts.org/cinetopia and at the door. The films are listed in order of first screening below.
June 14 & 20 (State): “Monster” (Hirokazu Koreeda, 2023). Drama/mystery, from the Japanese director of Shoplifters, about a mother who investigates what’s behind her son’s sudden strange behavior. 4:15 p.m. (Fri.) & 7 p.m. (Thurs.).
