Michigan Celtic Festival
July 12 & 13. This celebration of Saline’s sister city, Brecon, Wales, formerly known as the Saline Celtic Festival, features food, beer and clan tents, kids activities, and Celtic music and dance on several stages by visiting and local performers. No pets. The festival kicks off with music and dance workshops and the ever-popular “Mr. Pretty Legs” (8:45 p.m.) kilt-wearing competition. Live music lineup: Steel City Rovers (9:45 p.m.), a Hamilton, Ontario, quintet whose Celtic-based original music also includes elements of French Canadian and Cape Breton fiddle styles, along with elements of bluegrass, Appalachian music, and country blues. Highland Reign (6 p.m.), an Indianapolis-based Scots American folk-rock band. Whorled (7:30 p.m.), a Grand Rapids acoustic trio whose music incorporates Celtic, Japanese folk music, bluegrass, and swing. Food available. 5 p.m.–11:30 p.m. (Fri.) & 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Sat.), Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor–Saline Rd. Fri. $8 (kids age 17 and under, free) at the gate only.
