“Gordon Hall Days”: Dexter Area Historical Society and Museum Fundraiser

Guided tours of historic Gordon Hall and its newly renovated milk house, the property’s only surviving original outbuilding. Displays and demos of preindustrial crafts, including blacksmithing, spinning, and weaving. Displays of an elaborate running model train layout from the Model Railroad club, live farm animals, and more. Also, an antique and classic car show (10 a.m.–1 p.m.), and at 1 p.m. “Katherine’s Birthday Tea” ($10, reservations recommended at 734-395–4106), with tea & desserts and a show featuring early-20th-century fashions by designer Helen Welford. This year’s tea event celebrates the 150th birthday of Katharine Dexter McCormick, granddaughter of the town’s founder, and a prominent suffragist and philanthropist in her own right. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Gordon Hall, 8311 Island Lake Rd., Dexter. $5 ($20 per carload of people) at the door only.
