Garth Greenwell: U-M English Department Zell Visiting Writers Series

This novelist, literary critic, and one-time Greenhills English teacher reads from and discusses his work. His debut novel, What Belongs to You, about an American teacher who becomes entangled with a male prostitute in Bulgaria, won the British Book Award for Debut of the Year, and his most recent book Small Rain, a continuation of the same narrative that finds the protagonist hospitalized during the Covid-19 pandemic, was named a 2024 Best Book of the Year by the New Yorker and many others.
