Frontier Ruckus: University Musical Society Ypsilanti Freighthouse Residency
This experimental bluegrass-based folk-rock trio from Lake Orion has played Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo and developed a following across the U.S. and Europe for its songs about the minutiae of Midwestern suburban life. “Frontman Matthew Milia’s vocals convey a dreamy, twangy quality,” says a Cleveland Scene review. “He recalls Michael Stipe in his vivid wordplay and oblique imagery.” 7:30 p.m., Ypsilanti Freighthouse, 100 Market Pl., Ypsilanti. Tickets sliding scale $5–$25. Preregistration required at ums.org/season. (734) 764–2538.
