Mar. 26–31. The oldest and one of the most prestigious avant-garde film festivals in North America, showcasing new experimental and independent films in a wide range of genres. “Esther Newton Made Me Gay,” Jean Carlomusto’s competition documentary explores the life and times of pathbreaking cultural anthropologist Esther Newton, who challenged prevailing assumptions on gender, sexuality, and anthropological methods. 5:30 p.m.
