“Dexter Summer Festival”: Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce
Aug. 9 & 10. Formerly “Dexter Daze,” these festivities in Monument Park include a social tent (11 a.m.-11 p.m.), food vendors, merchant sidewalk sales, a raffle, & yard sales around town. Today’s kids activities: a family comedy and magic show (11 a.m.), a participatory hula hoop show (12:30 p.m.), and a juggling show (2 p.m.). Today’s music: young adult performers from the School of Rock (1 p.m.) and Ransom Jones (4 p.m.), a veteran local classic rock party band that plays 60s–80s covers. Also, folk-influenced originals by singer-songwriter Karen Flynn (8 p.m.) with her Step Aside Band 11 a.m.–11 p.m. (Fri.), noon–8 p.m. (Sat.), downtown Dexter.
