Dexter Bicentennial Celebration: Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce
See 20 Thursday. Today only: Dexter farmers market (8 a.m.–2 p.m.) takes place as usual at 3233 Alpine. Also, a bicentennial parade (10–11 a.m.) with the theme “a march through history” proceeds from Kensington St. and Ann Arbor St. to Main and Alpine, with floats and live music TBA, and American Legion Post 557 holds a classic car show (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) at 8225 Dexter-Chelsea Rd. An afternoon tea & period fashion show (1–3 p.m.) at Gordon Hall, 8311 Island Lake Rd., requires reservations ($15, dexterhistory.org), as does a Gordon Hall Fundraiser at 6 p.m. (see separate listing). And all are invited to play or watch a horseshoe tournament (2–4 p.m.) at Horseshoe Park, 7852 Second St. 8 a.m.–10 p.m.
