Q. Is anything being done about the dilapidated gas station at Miller and Maple? And what’s going on with the empty store across the street? It’s been unoccupied for years.

A. Speedway has submitted site plans to demolish the existing building, built in 1962, to construct a 3,968-square-foot gas station and convenience store.

The former station on the southwest corner was converted to retail space in 2007 but has been empty ever since. Last summer Subway announced it would rent part of the space, and that’s still the plan. Colliers broker Brendan Cavender says they have a tenant for the remaining spot, and will be making an announcement about that soon.
