Firehouse Subs, a franchise that opened last March in the former White Market space on William Street, closed January 16. Jessica Hammond, who owned the store with her husband Doug, says the couple will “pursue other endeavors.”
“The thing we’re saddest about is our customers,” she says. “We got to know a lot of them on a personal level.” But she does note one “silver lining.” Just before the store closed, the company-supported Public Safety Foundation approved a grant application she submitted. The Ann Arbor Fire Department will receive $25,000 to buy equipment.
