“Restoration Day: Parker Mill”: Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission

Annual Webster Fall Festival: Webster Township Historical Society/Webster United Church of Christ
Popular country fair with hayrides ($2 per adult, $1 per child), a 19th-century map board challenge to match locations in the township to interesting historical facts, exhibits of antique cars & farm equipment, and a trained sheep dog demonstration. Also, wool spinning, rope making, wood hewing, tatting, & blacksmithing demos, a one-room schoolhouse session (11 a.m., 12:30, 2, & 3:30 p.m.), a country craft fair, and an auction (10 a.m.) by Braun & Helmer. We Are Stars (11:30 a.m.) explores the secrets of our cosmic chemistry and our explosive origins, connecting life on Earth to the evolution of the universe. The Sky Tonight (12:30 & 2:30 p.m.) is an exploration of the current night sky, with tips on how to find the cardinal directions, constellations, and planets on your own. “Annual Song Fest”: Chelsea District Library

“Little Shop of Horrors’”: The Encore Musical Theatre Company

Dan Cooney and Anna Dreslinski co-direct this local professional theater company in Howard Ashman and Alan Menken’s 1982 musical, a wryly humorous, oddly tender hearted black comedy, adapted from the 1960 Roger Corman B-movie, about a carnivorous plant that grows to ferocious proportions. Paxton/Spangler Band W/ Doug Brown: North Star Lounge
Trombonist/vocalist Tbone Paxton and percussionist RJ Spangler will be reunited with pianist/vocalist Doug Brown, hot on the heels of the release of his first jazz CD with jazz luminaries drummer Billy Hart and Doug's brother, bassist Cameron Brown. The three go back to the old days of performing on Detroit's east side in the 80's and 90s. “Dvořák Symphony No. 7”: Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra
AASO music director Earl Lee opens the season conducting an audience favorite, Dvořák’s New World Symphony (1893), a love song to Black and Indigenous musical traditions by which Dvořák hoped to inspire his American peers to stop relying solely on European examples. Also, Joan Tower’s Made in America (2005), which uses “America the Beautiful” as a theme, and a performance of Erich Korngold’s Violin Concerto (1945) with acclaimed violinist Stefan Jackiw.
