"The Evolution of 'Recreational' Drug Use": U-M Evolution & Human Adaptation Program
Washington State University evolutionary anthropology professor Edward Hagen presents his findings that evidence from hunter-gatherers and other primates suggests that a “taste” for drugs might have evolved as a form of self-medication against parasites. This is the inaugural Evolution in the Public Eye Award celebration, honoring exceptional work in bringing evolutionary perspectives on behavior to a wide audience. 5:30-7:30 p.m., AADL Downtown, 4th fl.
