“The Universal Theory”: Cinetopia International Film Festival
Cinetopia International Film Festival. June 13—23. This Ann Arbor Summer Festival/Cinetopia collaboration features dozens of films—many of them Michigan premieres—screened over 10 days at the Michigan Theater (MI) and State Theatre (State). Includes narrative feature-length films and documentaries that recently premiered at international festivals such as Sundance and Berlin. Tickets $16 (Michigan Theater members, $13); 4-pack, $60 (Michigan Theater members, $45); festival passes, $125-$295 in advance at marquee-arts.org/cinetopia and at the door. The films are listed in order of first screening below.
June 16 & 22 (State): “The Universal Theory” (Timm Kröger, 2023). Drama/mystery set in 1962 at a physics conference in the Alps. In black and white. German, subtitles. 7:15 p.m. (Sun.) & 4:30 p.m. (Sat.).
