“Little Shop of Horrors”: Professional Youth Theatre of Michigan
May 30–June 2. Megan Wright-Jones directs local youth actors in grades 6–12 in Howard Ashman and Alan Menken’s 1982 musical, a wryly humorous, oddly tender black comedy, adapted from the 1960 Roger Corman B-movie, about a carnivorous plant that grows to ferocious proportions. Adopted by a nerdy store clerk, it initially seems to bring him good fortune—but as the plant thrives, it grows increasingly bloodthirsty, driving the clerk to murder. 7 p.m. (Thurs.), 8 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.), 2 p.m. (Sat. & Sun.), Riverside Arts Center, 76 N. Huron St., Ypsilanti. Tickets $20 in advance only at pytmi.square.site.
