“Those letters … have to spell out Mediterranean Restaurant,” write Mary and Katie DeBona, a daughter-and-mother duo who, while never having seen the mural featured in August, “recognized the writing on the wall.” “This month’s I Spy vanished from Ali Baba,” writes Barb Oliver who is “sad to see [the mural] gone.”

Hers was a rare sentiment among our twenty-six entrants. “Not surprised to see it painted over so quickly!” writes Evalyn Yanna. “The face was kind of creepy!” says Jeri Hollister. “It was only up for a short time,” shares Paul Gallagher, “and I’m still having bad dreams.”

“We’ve been wondering what’s up with that wall,” writes Bruce Worden. “They hosted ad murals for various shows on Adult Swim, the [Cartoon Network’s grownup] programming block,” explains Harold Tessmann III. The clown promoted “the animated series … Children’s Hospital,” writes Sally Collins. “It has been replaced by roller derby girls,” adds Gallagher, “who may be even scarier.”

Jillian Bellovary, a.k.a. Big Banger #13.7 of the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes, painted the latest mural herself. She says, “Come to our bouts!”

Janine Hutchinson won August’s random drawing, and will take her $25 gift certificate to Seva.
