Vape City, one of two businesses destroyed by a January 20 fire on Maynard St., reopened in May on South University.

The retailer, offering e-cigarettes, cigars, hookahs, and accessories, maintains its original location in Ypsilanti and expanded into Brighton in February.

The owner of Madras Masala, the Indian restaurant also leveled by the blaze, also hopes to reopen soon. Gopal Ramanujam’s insurance settlement is not yet final, but he’s been eagerly scouting out sites in and near Ann Arbor with suitable kitchen space for his extensive menu of South Indian and Indo-Chinese specialties.
