“Refugia Festival”: U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens/Nichols Arboretum

Festival celebrating sonic beauty and the environment. Live performances by nature-inspired sound/video/sculpture performance artist Stephanie Vasko, the U-M student electronic chamber music sextet Flydlphn, the Detroit trance-inducing improvisational string ensemble White Flowers, Detroit-based improvisational composer-pianist Yvonne Pruneau, and the Regenerate! Orchestra, a volunteer ensemble that describes its music as immersive “ambient-classical-folk-noise.” Also, the unveiling of a new art installation that both measures and alters the acoustic qualities of a space, a community-curated art gallery, and more.
