We received 137 entries correctly identifying the Fake Ad for the Weiss Haus American Diner on page 51 of the January issue.

The intrepid Donna Wessel Walker found the ad, but couldn’t find O’Brien in it. “Nice ties to the incoming admin: White House, 1600 Penn[sylvania] Street (instead of Avenue), and the sly shade in the comment by the ‘former guest’ that reverses Kamala Harris’s campaign slogan,” writes Donna Wessel Walker. “What I don’t see is the hidden clue to the former winner’s name. Too well camouflaged for my brain!”

“After getting to the back page and finding last month’s winner was O’Brien it occurred to me that a potato dish with onions, and red and green peppers cooked in a skillet is called Potatoes O’Brien,” writes Cynthia Hilger. “‘We’re going back’ can be taken a couple ways but add in the 1600 Penn Street address I know what it means to me 😢

“I had to Google O’Brien to find this one, as I have never heard of O’Brien
potatoes,” writes Susan Tarpley. “Sounds a lot like Hippie Hash (without the pork), which I have often ordered! Or a variation on the Kitchen Sink, my favorite at Northside Grill.”

Elaine Rosenthal won our drawing and is taking her gift certificate to Zingerman’s.
