“Hexagons”: Caroline Shaw & Gabriel Kahane (University Musical Society)
Pulitzer-winning American contemporary composer, violinist, and vocalist Shaw and acclaimed Brooklyn (NY) pianist and singer-songwriter Kahane perform their new collaborative musical piece inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’s labyrinthian 1939 short story, “The Library of Babel.” The work, a UMS co-commission, invites audiences to contemplate the joy, grief, wonder, and bewilderment that spring from a life oversaturated in information. 7:30 p.m. Rackham Auditorium. $28–$52 (students $15–$20) in advance only at ums.org/season/2024-25-season or (734) 764–2538.
