Mind Matters: Ketamine for mental health treatment — What's the latest?: U-M Department of Psychiatry
The U-M Department of Psychiatry is pleased to present this Mind Matters educational webinar about Ketamine featuring our experts.
Ketamine is an anesthetic agent with powerful antidepressant properties. Over the last several decades, studies have shown the potential for Ketamine as a therapeutic option for treatment-resistant depression. Ketamine can provide rapid relief for symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts. Traditionally, medications could take weeks before patients begin to experience relief of symptoms. With ketamine, patients often experience relief of symptoms within hours.
However, ketamine is not right for everyone, and there are risks to ordering ketamine in other delivery forms from online sources offering telehealth-only care. This session will discuss these issues too.
