Refugia Festival: U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens/Nichols Arboretum
Apr. 20 & 21. Two-day festival celebrating sonic beauty and the environment. Live music by the Bridge Bassoon Duo, local singer-songwriter Joe Reilly, U-M piano grad student Justin Snyder, music by composer Libby Meyer with performers TBA, Terraphonograph by bassist/sound installation maker Jack Vees, and Resonant Gratitude by composer/percussionist Alexis C. Lamb. Also, a guided sound walk, a chance to participate in a project to collect speech and other sounds, a workshop in nontraditional musical scores, and other educational programming TBA.
