The Find Opens on Chelsea's Middle St.

From eyeglasses to resale

MaryAnne Thomas opened her resale shop, The Find, this summer in the former Chelsea Eyeglass spot on W. Middle St. The eclectic inventory--from clothes for all ages to jewelry, trinkets, and home decor--is displayed from floor to ceiling to maximize her compact space. Nothing is priced over $20.

"There's something new each day," she says. Today it's a Beatles "Yellow Submarine" tie and lunch box for one lucky shopper. "It's joyful for me to see people discover their own 'find,'" she says, "because it's different for everyone."

Thomas, who previously ran an online resale business, has added some consignment since she opened (she asks people to call ahead before bringing items). While she says she doesn't want to compete with Moran's Consignment on the other end of Middle, which has a niche in upscale women's clothing, she does display an occasional used Coach purse. She says those "finds" always disappear within a day.

The Find, 136 W. Middle St., Chelsea, (734) 593-7044. Tues.-Sat. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed Sun. & Mon. Additional hours to come. Facebook: The Find Chelsea.     (end of article)
