A guide to local government services and Ann Arbor's lively political scene.

Contact Information

City Hall, the Guy C. Larcom Jr. Municipal Bldg., is at 100 N. Fifth Ave. The mailing address is P.O. Box 8647, AA 48107. Customer service, human resources, and public services administration offices are located at the City Center Bldg. at 220 E. Huron.

As of February 2009, the following services and staff are relocated to 2000 S. Industrial for approximately 24 months, due to construction activities at City Hall: Building and trade permit services; Construction plan review; Inspection and plan review personnel; Parking referees; Rental housing services; Right-of-way and sidewalk occupancy permits. City planners, historic preservation and appeals secretary are still located at City Hall.

New city phone numbers. At the end of 2008, the City of Ann Arbor replaced its aging phones with a new system, resulting in a change in many city phone numbers. A new dial-by-name feature can be accessed via the automated attendant number, 794-6000. The city’s main phone number is the same, at 994-2700.

For general information, visit the city website at www.a2gov.org, or call the customer service center, 994-2700. If you have a question about a specific city service, call the department that provides it; see the box “City Services, A-Z,” and the descriptions below.
