Affordable Computers off South Industrial closed its doors on May 31 after twenty years of offering refurbished computer equipment and repairs. We were unable to contact owner Mike Nadeau, but his former business partner Bart Uguccioni told us the closing had been planned as part of Nadeau’s retirement.

Uguccioni owns a repair business called A2 Computers and was doing repairs from the Affordable space as a joint venture. When Nadeau told him he would be retiring, Uguccioni opened a freestanding A2 Computers location at Platt and Packard last October, but continued to do repairs for Affordable customers until it closed. Uguccioni says A2 will keep honoring the warranties of computers purchased from Affordable, though Nadeau will be footing the bill on the parts.

Moving into the retail niche Affordable vacated, A2 Computers is also now selling used and refurbished computers. “The parking lot’s a little small,” Uguccioni says of the new location, “but we’re happy here!”
