U-M jazz faculty are featured in all-star ensembles of high school students from around the state. With world-renowned trumpeter-composer Ingrid Jensen, who is the program’s guest director this year. $20. 6-8:30 p.m.

Rare club appearance by this country-pop star, a singer with a big, commanding voice and a repertoire of alternately earnest and warmly sentimental songs about life’s ordinary joys and sorrows. He comes to town with a batch of new songs. $35.

Lansing pop-punk band. Openers: The Bonez’s, a Lansing rock band, and EchoSlave, a Jackson hard-rock quartet. $10.

Detroit postpunk rock band that first formed in 1977. Opener: Ransom Jones, a veteran local classic rock party band, formerly known as the Breakers, that plays 60s-80s covers.

Local bluegrass quartet known for its beautiful vocal harmonies and instrumental prowess. They are usually joined by a variety of guest musicians. Tonight they are joined by pedal steel guitarist Mike Harrington.

Versatile acoustic quartet whose repertoire includes traditional jigs, reels, waltzes and airs from Irish, French-Canadian, New England and Southern/old-time sources, and more. 

Psychedelic surf-funk by this Ypsilanti quartet fronted by singer-guitarist Dan Tomlin. With guitarist Kyle Roberts, bassist Colin Roberts, and drummer Perrin Hawver.

Veteran local indie rock trio. 9:30-11:30 p.m.

Jazz originals and standards by a local ensemble led by singer-bassist Rob Crozier.
