“Top of the Park”: Ann Arbor Summer Festival
See 9 Friday. Tonight in the Kidzone: A2Zero offers zero waste games and activities (5 p.m.). On the Power Center Lawn: fitness activities with SPENGA Ann Arbor (5:30 p.m.). In the Annex tent: Showcase of zero-waste goods and services (6:30 p.m.). On the O&W Grove Stage: local soul singer-songwriter Jess Merritt (5 p.m.), and Ann Arbor-based indie folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elisabeth Pixley-Fink (6 p.m.). On the Rackham Stage: the Chris Canas Band (7 p.m.), a Detroit blues band fronted by blues vocalist and virtuoso guitarist Canas, and Shake Steady (8:30 p.m.), a horn-driven Detroit funk and psychedelic soul sextet that’s the latest incarnation of the TOP favorite Third Coast Kings. The live music is followed at 10 p.m. by an official afterparty (Root, 210 S. First St.), with DJs FSQ and Dan Bain. 5–10 p.m.
