“Rejoice”: U-M Concert Band.
Richard Frey & John Pasquale conduct this music student ensemble in a program of uplifting band music, including Sousa’s “Nobles of the Mystic Shrine,” Pulitzer-winning American composer Jennifer Higdon’s soaring “Mysterium,” up-and-coming African American composer Katahj Copley’s Serenade for Wind Nonet, the late MSU composition professor H. Owen Reed’s innovative 1949 Mexican folk song symphony La Fiesta Mexicana and Ecstatic Waters, contemporary American composer Steven Bryant’s 2008 symphony for wind ensemble and electronics. 8 p.m., Hill Auditorium.
