Motawi Make-a-Tile & More: Motawi Tileworks
Make your own tile or ornament at Motawi Tileworks’ Make-a-Tile & More on Saturday, Oct. 1. Motawi will have several offerings for art enthusiasts that day: outdoor tile- and ornament-making workshops, an outdoor raku ornament-firing and takeaway, and an indoor Staff Art Sale and archives exhibit (face masks required indoors).
Make-a-Tile/Ornament Workshops: Drop in to carve a tile or ornament at outdoor workshops hosted by Motawi experts. Tiles and ornaments will be glazed in Emerald. Cost: $10 to make a tile, $15 to make an ornament. Shipping is $20 (if preferred to pickup). Limit one of each item per guest.
Raku Ornament Takeaway: Visit the neighboring tent for raku firing with Rovin Ceramics, a Motawi company. Choose your design, glaze with the color of your choice, then witness this Japanese pottery-firing process firsthand. Cost: $20; limit one item per guest.
Motawi Archives Exhibit and Staff Art Sale: To commemorate 30 years in business, The Tileworks will have a self-guided archival exhibit on display indoors, where Motawi artisans will also be selling their own work. Shop locally made ceramics, mixed-media works and more.
Make-a-Tile/Ornament Workshops: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (last call at 2:30 p.m.)
Raku Ornament Takeaway: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Motawi Archives Exhibit, Staff Art Sale: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
