James McMurtry: The Ark/University Musical Society Ypsilanti Freighthouse Residency
This acclaimed veteran singer-songwriter from Texas specializes in laconic, fully realized country-rock tales about cracks in the surface of the American Dream and the ordinary people who fall through them. His deadpan delivery and minimalist melodicism often provoke comparisons to Lou Reed.
