J Michael & the Heavy Burden and Jive Colossus: Funky Rivertown Fest
Funky Rivertown Fest is a brand-new weeklong music festival in downtown Ypsilanti, dedicated to original music. Concerts each night at 7:30 PM, matinee Saturday at 2:30-5:30. Program includes many Detroit Music Award winners playing across genres.
J Michael and the Heavy Burden is an Americana, rock, funk-tinged outfit drawing influences from Bruce Springsteen to the Grateful Dead, with a hint of Dave Matthews Band.
Jive Colossus is a 10-piece ensemble driven by a 3-piece horn section and percussion-heavy rhythm section, that will take you on a high-energy musical journey through Afrobeat, Funk, Caribbean, R&B, Latin, Jazz & Soul.
