“In Process: A Symposium in Honor of Ray Silverman”: UMMA.

Sept. 30 & Oct. 1. Inspired by retiring U-M art history, museum studies, and African studies professor Ray Silverman’s seminal volume, Museums as Process: Translating Local and Global Knowledges, this symposium features panels of visiting scholars, artists, and public policy professionals on the methodologies, challenges, and benefits of collaboration in scholarship, museum work, and art production. Panel discussions on Sept. 30 include Ghana (1:30–3 p.m.) and East Africa (3:30–5:30 p.m.).
