“Curse of the Starving Class”: Ann Arbor Civic Theatre
Oct. 4–6 & 11–13. Glenn Bugala directs local actors in Sam Shepard’s 1977 black comedy about an impoverished, dysfunctional central California family struggling for control of their rundown farm. It’s an examination of the darker aspects of American attitudes about land and psychic inheritance that some critics labeled an American version of The Cherry Orchard when it was first produced. 7:30 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.) & 2 p.m. (Sun.), Civic Theatre, 322 W. Ann. Tickets $18 (seniors, $15; students, $10) at a2ct.org and (if available) at the door. (734) 223–7157.
