“As You Like It”: Brevity Shakespeare.:

Sept. 9-11. Karl Sikkenga directs this local acting company in a 90-minute version of Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy centered on a noblewoman who must disguise herself as a man in order to win the world’s respect. With its deft counterpointing of multiple plots, its extravagance of word and wit, and its canny assault upon the various socially sanctioned ways in which people inflict themselves upon one another, "As You Like It" is arguably the greatest comic drama in English. It is certainly one of the most entertaining. Stars Dash Mangrulkar, Jennifer Pan, Cristina Pellerano, and Michael Jewett. Performed outdoors with limited capacity. 8 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.) & 2 p.m. (Sun.), 210 N. Wallace at Sherman, Ypsilanti. Rain location at First Baptist Church, 1110 W. Cross. Tickets $15 (students & seniors, $10). Reservations recommended at 985-0315.
