“All About the Trio”: Kerrytown Concert House.:
U-M jazz piano professor Ellen Rowe continues her series of programs that covers different aspects of jazz trios with a celebration of the late Detroit-born pianist and educator Barry Harris. In his long and storied career, Harris played as a sideman with legends like Cannonball Adderley and Donald Byrd, recorded several albums as a leader for such noted labels as Riverside and Prestige, and was an evangelist for jazz education, prompting New York Times critic Robert Palmer to refer to him as a “one-man jazz academy.” With bassist Paul Keller and drummer Sean Dobbins. 2 p.m., KCH, 415 N. Fourth Ave. Tickets $19–$50 in advance at a2tix.com; reservations recommended. 769-2999., . . . . . .
